The Playground has created an eclectic group of classes to provide something for everyone. As always, you are encouraged to try something new. These classes include:

Class Descriptions
Kids Fitness at the Playground
New this year to the The Kids Club Playground is our completely flexible and convenient Drop In Program. It's completely up to you. No long term commitment and no contract.
Elementary Program
Class focus will be on fun and fitness using diverse approaches and all the fun PG equipment available in the gym.
Ages: 7-10 (coed)
Time: Thursdays from 3:30-4:15 pm
Start Date: January 10, 2013
Girls Only Program
Our brand new sports and conditioning program is for girls serious about improving their athletic fitness. Multiple sports conditioning drills and training techniques will be used to challenge the girls' athleticism, strength, agility and more. As always, "serious fun" will be our objective.
Ages: 11-15 (girls)
Time: Tuesdays and Fridays from 3:30-4:15 pm
Start Date: January 8 and 11, 2013
Boys Only Program
Our sports and conditioning program is for boys serious about improving their athletic fitness and stamina. Multiple sports conditioning drills and training techniques will be used to challenge the boy's athleticism, strength, agility and more. As always, "serious fun" will be our objective.
Ages: 13-17 (boys)
Time: Fridays from 4:30-5:15 pm

Integrative Strength
Balance, coordination and core control are blended in to this weight training class. This class combines elements of balance, strength, power, muscular endurance (toning) and functional training. This is not your momma’s weight training class.

PlayGround Fit
This is TCS’ signature class where we combine aerobic/anaerobic conditioning, strength, agility, sports conditioning, flexibility and core training in one briskly paced, circuit style work-out. This class is challenging, fun and never boring. Typically, participants work in a group but perform a series of exercises (or athletic-type drills) at their own pace and level. “PlayGround Extreme” is the most demanding version of “PlayGround Fit”..

PlayGround Extreme (See PlayGround Fit description above)
Originally created to be the ultimate version of Hodge Podge, this is an extremely intense and physically demanding class. This class is typically attended by a 35+ crowd and those interested in a balanced, athletic workout- not solely the PAIN.

The Playground Indoor Cycling
Our indoor cycling program is for all levels of fitness. This is a phenomenal cardiovascular workout that will condition your legs and cardiovascular system as you burn bucket loads of fat. Be sure to bring your sweat towel! This class requires sign-up in advance. First-timers need to arrive 10 minutes early to their first class.

Yoga
Yoga is a general term used in the West to describe a vigorous, fitness-based approach to vinyasa-style yoga. Most yoga is closely modeled on the Ashtanga style of practice. Unlike Ashtanga, yoga does not follow a set series of poses. Therefore, any yoga class can vary widely from the next. What they have in common is an emphasis on strength and flexibility. The advent of yoga heralded yoga's current popularity, as people began to see yoga as a way to work out.
Outdoor Fitness Activities
Stay tuned for our special outdoor training series which includes trail running, hiking and the all-new BackWoods BootKamp, a boot-camp style workout using elements of nature. Outdoor training takes place at the MDC Reservoir on Farmington Ave.
Playground Express
Playground Express is boot camp style workout created for those of you who are short on time. This workout is sure to get your heart rate up and rev your metabolism. We will combine both strength and aerobic conditioning to give you a challenging, safe and sweaty workout in 35 minutes. Beginners and advanced participants will benefit from Playground Express.
NEW! Yoga For Athletes - Thursdays from 6-7p
Having trouble reaching your toes lately? Are you recovering from an injury? Or do you need to work of your flexibility? This is an all levels class and beginners are welcome. The class will focus on developing flexibility for runners, cyclists, and any exercise junkie! We will focus on identifying and eliminating imbalances to ensure proper range of motion. The most important part of this class is having fun! So, get ready to stretch and pull and drag out the damage that you have been doing! If you are not a Playground Member the drop in rate is $20 per class.
Instructor's Choice
This will be a series of intense, fun, ever-changing fitness offerings that are designed to punish and entertain! Possible options: ropes, outdoor training, boxing, S3 or maybe, just maybe, Glenn will listen to a request. |
