The driving theme behind our fitness training here at The PlayGround is play. Based on our Fitness Director's book Duh. The Workout- Get in the Best Shape of Your Life by Acting Like a Child, The PlayGround offers programs for adults and children that center around movements, activities and games associated with things young children do every day. We feel that it is important to focus less on toning individual muscles and more on the process, the joy and the social component of group play. The exercise programs are safe, demanding and bio-mechanically sound, but our primary objective is to make our adult members feel a bit of nostalgia as they hop, roll, sweat and laugh their way to a lifetime of regular exercise and good health.
Kids Fitness at the Playground
New this year to the The Kids Club Playground is our completely flexible and
convenient Drop In Program. It's completely up to you. No long term
commitment and no contract.
The playground was born from a simple dream…to return to a past many of us have forgotten. Back to a time where we ran, swam, jumped, rolled, skipped, chased, and everything in between for the sheer joy of it. We moved because we wanted to and rarely had a day when we were too tired to go outside and play. It was the only time in our lives where we were told to slow down, compared to a live now when we can't seem to go fast enough.
"We do not stop playing because we grow old, we grow old because we stop playing!"
If you have ever passed a park or school yard, take a look at what the children are doing. You may see a child being chased by several other children looking and running towards that one chance to tag the leader. You may find other children racing across the monkey bars with smiles on their faces and dashing to catch the ball bouncing off each other in dodge ball.
Now think about your life and your daily activities. Most of the time we are eating, working, and sleeping. What happened to moving? Will you be ready to sprint in a dash or to jump over that puddle in the road? Will you be ready to play like a child?
Children hone their skills and develop their strength and coordination through PLAY. Most of the time totally unconscious to the fact that they are exercising but totally in the moment of sheer joy and excitement.
Applying the model of functional movement along with enjoyment is what The PlayGround is all about. Come see what we are all about and let your inner child decide for itself.
